Grassmere House is the ideal base from which to visit the many
places of outstanding natural beauty and historic interest to be found
in this truly beautiful part of the West Country.
The village of Combe Martin,which nestles in a sheltered valley,has a
two mile long high street,offering a wide selection of Inns,cafés and
Gift Shops leading down to the Sandy/Pebble bay,where children can
bathe in safety and explore the many rock pools and caves.
Within a short distance you will find the golden beaches of
Woolacombe,which was recently rated as one of the Worlds 'Top Ten
Beaches' and close by Croyde Bay is very popular with surfers.
Saunton Sands is in the same area and offers yet another excellent
sandy beach.
Nearer to home the villages of Lynmouth and Lynton with its Cliff
Railway,the 'Best Kept Village' of Berrynarbor with its pretty winding
streets,Tea Shop and Restaurant,17th century 'Ye olde Globe Inn'
and quaint thatched whitewashed cottages, dates back to 1085, and
is well worth visiting.
The seaside village of Clovelly leads down to the sea with tiny
cottages and interesting Museum and shops.
Close by 'The Milky Way' Adventure Park will interest all the family
with Falconry Displays,Animal Farm,Pets Corner
Why not visit Ilfracombe with its new 'Landmark Theatre' and lovely
harbour, offering boat trips to Lundy and along the local coastline.Sea
Fishing trips are also regularly available during spring and summer.

shops and the 'Green Lanes' shopping mall,famous Pannier and Craft
Markets, and recently refurbished 'Queens Theatre'.
